Thanks. Yeah all done in blender minus the final video editing and syncing with audio. I used Adobe Premiere for that since Blender's just not there yet...but it's getting there.

Yes i understand, well you have nice skills for the animation i really enjoyed watching your movies :) i am starting doing blender again, after few months on 3ds max.. most boring process in this business is rigging definitely, i dont have any animations of mine but am on my way to make some :)

I would suggest still learning Blender and/or whatever software that works best for you. For any 3D artist (animation, modeling, rendering, etc) you will most likely benefit from at least having basic knowledge of all areas. Depending on what you want to do, it's good to specialize in that area. If animation is your main goal Poser is a good place to get your hands on right away. You can use the character is comes with right away and get used to how all that works. Then figure out how to make your own characters later. Actually in Poser, you can always go back and swap their character with yours...assuming they are rigged properly. They still might need minimal tweaking after that but it's possible. I know Poser costs a little, definite way more expensive than Blender (FREE), but also tons cheaper than 3DS Max and Maya. Poser Debut just came out and that's $49: [link] But whatever tools you get your hands on for learning what you want to do...

yes you are right, but since im a student money is a big problem for me right now. and i wanna do all in legal way u know.. and it is very very very hard. thats why im starting blender again, cuz its free , i mastered 3ds max very good, its too expenssive for me unfortunately, so i realized that , that combination wont work, i mean it could work in my country unfortunately, but i dont want to work without licene. and i really dont mind paying $50 bucks for something that will benefit me in creative way. :)

Great animation. I was particularly impressed with the camera animation. I thought it got a little too jumpy in places but overall it really got you into the feel of it all.

@02:48Thanks. The camera stuff was tricky. It was my first short animation, but I kept trying to apply what I've read about rule of 3rds, 180 degree rule, etc. Some where one, a lot of them were off, but it's cool to learn from it.

Also, if you didn't see it, there is a second one (a bit of a joke though): [link]

Very fun and entertaining... you did this to gain better understanding of animation with blender -- what can I say, congrats again!
Very inspiring for me, I'm trying to finish a realy short animation myself, also to learn, so I have an idea of the effort behind this!
All my respect

Thanks! And let me know how your animation is going. Are you using Blender 2.5? I'm still using 2.48 for animation. 2.49 introduced some major slow-downs for some reason. I'm most excited about 2.5 but am waiting for them to get around to fully rebuilding the animation division. They finally added Euler bone rotation!!! Thank you Blender Foundation!!!

Don't bother reading up on Wikipedia unless you're a math master who understands all those equations. (of course feel free to anyways). Blender has been using Quaternion rotation ONLY for bones/armatures. If you key a bone (Pose Mode) and look at the curves in the IPO editor you see a QuatW, QuatX, QuatY, and QuatZ. I never totally understood why there is a 4th curve when I only want to rotate the on the bone's X Y & Z axis (which is what Eurler does). If I want a bone to spin 360 degree on a given axis, I should be able to edit an IPO curve going from 0 to 360.
Well, keying the the X Y or Z axis to spin 360 is a bit tricky with Quaternion. It involves using the QuatW. And 0 to 360 causes strange rotations. Not cool if you're trying to animate a ninja doing any kind of 360 spins. Probably had a lot to do with how little I was able to finish in Little Ninja Project over that amount of time. The ninja was spin 180 and just hang there. I think I cried from frustration at one point. Anyway. There you have it. I hope that explains why I'm happy about Euler as a new option for Bones in 2.5.

Man i think i got it, thank you so much for the explanation!

i remember i once tried to rotate something 360, and i only did it
keying 3 frames, like this
1ºframe rot=0
2ºframe rot=+180
3ºframe rot=+180
and I aways though that it's ridiculous I can't just put 360 to work you know

That's exactly what I'm talking about. So yay for us and our futures with Blender's Euler rotations! I wonder what took so long. I think just about every other 3D app uses Eurler. Either way, Blender's smashing them all.
