Megaman X Fanimation by ShaneNewville Megaman X Fanimation by ShaneNewville
In celebration of Megaman 25th Anniversary I've finished the closest thing to a personal masterpiece to date. T'was a long and difficult journey. Being a busy husband and father leaves little time to do extra stuff. So this is a result of pushing myself beyond the point of mental exhaustion. My wife has been right there with me. I feel lucky to have a woman like her. Rooster Teeth is being Mega supportive too. Oh great, now I'm using puns. I should get pun'ished. ;) It was ready to go on Monday (the official anniversary date) minus the fact I was using movie music. I was given access to a massive library of music to replace it with...but what Shane Newville in his right mind would not jump at the opportunity to make his own music? So for the last couple days I somehow manages to create an original soundtrack (which I plan to make available as soon as I get a chance to breathe).

Megaman X was one of my very first video games when I was introduced to the SNES. Fast forward many years later, the Megaman X series continues to be one of my favorites.

I enjoyed watching your Youtube video on The Megaman Network. Your perspective on X's personality and combat abilities opens up a new realm of possibilities for him. I look forward to watching the sequel(s) to this video and I hope you will make more animations/movies with X and his friends.

Happy Holidays!

Awesome work in that video.

The character models were really well done. The fighting was smooth and well choreographed. I loved how you made X use both busters and how creative/inventive you got combining his dash into his fighting style. (Nice touch on adding Kos-mos's machine guns too.) A lot of the sound effects were pulled right from the games and just made everything sound so much better. Speaking of sound effects, hits had this very satisfying sounding clang of metal on metal which just brought the combat up a level to make it sound like X was hitting really hard, that was a nice touch.
All in all, music was probably the "weakest" element, and I say weakest very loosely because it was not bad by any stretch (merely I'm just not a fan of that style, so personal bias there sorry). I did sort of expect a certain X5/X6 theme to play when the capsule opened (even if it would have been a bit too obvious a choice). But not having it really didn't hamper that fight at all.

Overall, very well done. Thank you for taking the time to work on that and share it with us all. I wish you well in future productions and endeavours. I do hope that you'll at least consider making a follow up video because that would be awesome.

Man that is totally incredible. You've improved leaps and bounds with this man. Love Megaman X and this totally meets the awesomeness standard.

I also have to bring up your excellent camera angles. Nothing makes a video stand out over everything else than intense and awesome angles.

You have no idea how many people have been fangasming to that (myself included).. I showed that to our team (we're working on making an MMX Famine series using MMD) and the script writer nearly had a stroke, I think!

Thanks for this. Thanks for doing justice to X. I think we in the fandom know how bad-ass he can be, and this clearly demonstrates that. You, sir, have earned a watcher.

Dude!!! That's the best Megaman Fanimation I've seen since the Megaman Vs. Flashman Flash cartoon. Your dedication and hard work is much appreciated. Thank you.

I want so badly to be a 3d animator. I wish I had the money to attend Animation Mentor.

Wow thanks.

Don't let money hold you back. I and so many others have done the same things. It wasn't till my mid 20s I finally stopped believing it was hopeless for me to pursue my dreams of making animations. I knew I would not be able to afford schooling and finally decided I was going to do whatever it takes to teach myself. I started out with this cheap 3D software called DoGa-L1/L2. Later I started getting into Blender. Then I came across Monty Oum's Haloid and got boost of hope since he did not have schooling either. In fact he dropped out of high school. But he was doing things that people don't even learn in animation school. That's when I started to understand it really is possible to reach your goals if you work hard, practice hard, and continue to take steps in the direction of your passion. It was never easy. Sooooooomany days came where I ran into unexplainable technical issues with no one around to help me. Somehow I kept going though. If I got stuck, I would move on to learning something and come back to the problem later. I flooded myself with information. Maybe too much info. But the more you familiarize yourself with that stuff the faster you can start to come up with your own workarounds when you get stuff. Troubleshooting is a good skill to develop. You need to be willing to do the work. And don't ever let yourself get caught up thinking you have to do something correctly in order to be successful or good at something. Quite the opposite. Practice a lot. Make a lot of mistakes. Learn from those mistakes. Don't be afraid to try things. And definitely NEVER let yourself believe that you are not a worthy artist or an artist at all. Self-doubt makes it hard. But keep moving forward anyway. You have to choose to keep taking steps. If you have passion, forget about all that crap. You do it because you want to. Not because you do or do not fit the description of the person you wish you were. You are you. Be yourself. Your passions matter even if they seem silly to other people. People even have this sickness where they tell you you can't do things. Believe me. I've had plenty of discouraging words sent my way in the past. If that ever happens, just remember you are not doing it for those people.

hehe. Well there's the lecture of the day. Hopefully that helps encourage you a little.

Wow dude... I wasn't expecting you to even reply let alone lay down some wisdom. Your words stem from experience and I appreciate the opportunity to learn from it as well. I am encouraged more than a little trust me.

I'll remember this.

I have to ask... Why the X8 models? I mean, I can't find the Maverick Hunter Models, but I'm sure they're out there somewhere.
ShaneNewville Featured By Owner Dec 22, 2012  Professional Filmographer
Originally I wanted to hint on what could have happened between the end of X8 and the beginning of Megaman Zero. Supposedly there is a 100 year gap that as far as I know is not explained. Unfortunately time did not allow me to fully tell that story. Better to show something than nothing.
CeasarArcana Featured By Owner Dec 22, 2012  Student General Artist
Well, that explains it...
But I was going more for the whole matter of the X8 models looking rather weird... X's eyes seem to face different directions on that model...
